NA Speaker Reiterates Pakistan’s Support for Kashmiri Self-Determination

Islamabad: The Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, marking January 5 as Right to Self-Determination Day for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This day commemorates the United Nations’ recognition of the Kashmiri people’s right to determine their future through a fair and impartial plebiscite, a promise that remains unfulfilled more than seventy years later.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the enduring commitment of the Kashmiri people to their inalienable freedom, as recognized by United Nations resolutions. He condemned the Indian government’s actions on August 5, 2019, when it revoked the special status of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, describing the measures as a severe violation of the Kashmiri people’s rights.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle and called on the international community to acknowledge and act upon their legitimate demand for self-determination. He stressed that resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully, in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is crucial for regional stability and global peace.

The Speaker assured that Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiri cause on all fronts, advocating for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
