National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence meets

Islamabad, December 19, 2019 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence held today at 12:00 a.m. in Committee Room No. 05 (Old Constitution Room), Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Amjid Ali Khan, MNA. The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on16-10-2019.

After detailed discussion and deliberations, the Standing Committee on Defence unanimously passed “The Surveying and Mapping (Amendment) Bill, 2019” (Government Bill), without any amendment. The Committee deferred the agenda regarding all the related issues on Cyber Crimes, due to absence of Federal Secretary Interior. The Committee expressed its grave concern over the non presence of Federal Secretary Interior and further directed the Senior Joint Secretary, Ministry of Interior to convey the strong message of the Committee. The Committee also directed the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Interior to ensure his presence in the next meeting.

The Committee deferred the agenda regarding the issue of General Sales Shares of the Cantonments from the Provinces of Sindh and Balochistan and Grant – in – Aid to cantonment Boards; being not issued/given and by the Ministry of Finance on the request of the Ministry of Defence and the same will be discussed in the next meeting of the committee.

The meeting was attended by the MNAs namely, Ms. Kanwal Shauzab, Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Mr. Jamil Ahmed Khan, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Syed Amin ul Haq, Mr. Ghous Bux Khan Mahar, Ms. Rubina Irfan, Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Mr. Riaz ul Haq, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Mr. Aftab Shaban Mirani and Salahuddin Ayubi. The meeting was also attended by senior officers from M/o Interior, M/o Law and Justice, and Survey of Pakistan.
