National Day Festivities At Seoul

Islamabad, March 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Pakistan to Seoul, South Korea on the occasion of the National Day of Pakistan. The ceremony was presided over by the Ambassador of Pakistan to South Korea, Shaukat Ali Mukadam.

It was widely attended by the officers and staff of the Embassy of Pakistan, prominent Korean nationals, former diplomats, and prominent members of the Pakistani community from different walks of life, residing in South Korea, says a press release received here today from Seoul, South Korea.

Message from the President of Pakistan was read on the occasion. The valiant struggle of the Muslims of the sub-continent culminating in the creation of Pakistan was highlighted.

Earlier, on 19 March, 2013, the Pakistan Day Reception was held at a local hotel, which was attended by 300 Heads of the Diplomatic Corps, Conglomerates, Media, Businessmen and the Pakistani community. The Ambassador in his speech highlighted the exponential rise in our relations.

Our exports rose by 85% in 2011 to US$ 736 million compared to 2010 and in 2012, it rose to US$ 776 million. Most of the prominent Korean companies were now investing in Pakistan in the Hydel Water, Roads, Chemical and Steel industries. He also highlighted the successful visit of 50 Korean investors to Pakistan from 27 February – 2 March, 2013 led by the Ambassador.

The Chief Guest, Park, Ki-Poong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs highly praised Pak-South Korea relations, especially after the visit of the former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari in 2012.
