National Flag Carrier will acquire twelve Medium range aircrafts in Pakistan International Airlines fleet

Karachi, April 30, 2013 (PPI-OT): The National Flag Carrier will soon acquire twelve Medium range aircraft in PIA fleet. This was stated by Chairman PIA, Lt. General (Retd.) Asif Yasin Mailk at PIA’s two- day Global Marketing Conference which concluded on Tuesday.
Chairman PIA said that all employees have to work collectively for the betterment of the airline. He appreciated the performance of Marketing Department. He said that PIA has to increase its network to achieve better sales and advised marketing department to prepare feasibilities on commercial basis for additional destinations while emphasizing on increasing frequencies of its existing profitable routes. He said that PIA should look into possibilities of starting flights to the African Continent.

Praising the performance of Engineering Department, he said that the airline has established an engineering hub at Lahore which is now fully able to handle Check A of B777 aircraft. It will not only save time but also eliminate problem of dead legs while bringing the aircraft to Karachi. Similar facility has been planned for Islamabad airport as well. He also complimented the Engineering Department in maintaining PIA aircraft as Safety is the airline’s foremost priority. He added.

Earlier, Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director PIA, Muhammad Junaid Yunus said the airline has the potential and capability to make a turnaround but we do need addition of fuel efficient planes in the fleet. He said there is an improving trend in the performance as during last six months the losses have been reduced by an average of Rs. 1 billion per month.

This was possible due strict financial monitoring and adoption of effective cost saving measures. He said very soon the airline will embark upon its business plan already approved by the Federal Government and we are committed to excellence. Managing Director PIA praised the Marketing Managers of the airline for their sincere efforts in achieving the sales targets and assured Director Marketing and his team for maximum support by the Management.

Director Marketing, Mr. Khurram Mushtaq also spoke on the occasion and emphasized on improving the services of Marketing Department and to increase interaction with passengers and other stakeholders for building up their confidence in the airline.

The conference was aimed at reviewing the performance PIA sales at domestic and foreign stations. The Conference was attended by PIA Marketing Managers of domestic and foreign stations, members of Sales and Marketing Teams, Directors and General Managers of the airline.–
