National Health Committee Urges Filling Vacancies at PIMS Hospital

Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination has raised serious concerns over unfilled positions at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital. The committee emphasized the importance of addressing these vacancies promptly to improve the hospital’s efficiency.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the 12th meeting of the committee was held in Islamabad, chaired by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani. During the meeting, the Executive Director of PIMS provided an update on the hospital’s operations and performance. The committee also postponed discussions on several legislative bills due to the absence of their movers.

The committee instructed the Ministry of National Health Services to provide details on the status of rehabilitation centers in Islamabad and conduct audits to verify the presence of psychiatrists. Additionally, in response to concerns about rising polio cases, the committee decided to convene stakeholders to develop effective eradication plans.

Several members of the committee, including Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz and Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, attended the meeting alongside senior health officials and the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Health.
