National Roaming Services Initiated Along Makran Coastal Highway to Boost Connectivity

Islamabad: In a significant step towards enhancing telecommunications infrastructure, the Ministry of IT and Telecom, along with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Universal Service Fund (USF), launched National Roaming Services along the Makran Coastal Highway on August 13, 2024. This initiative is aimed at improving connectivity for residents and travelers in Balochistan.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority announcement issued on 13 August 2024, the service was inaugurated during a ceremony at the PTA headquarters. The initiative, under the collaboration of USF with major telecom operators like Jazz and Ufone, reflects a concerted effort to provide essential public services and technological access in one of Pakistan’s most underserved regions.

Ms. Shaza Fatima, Minister of State for IT and Telecom, and key figures including Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rahman, Chairman PTA, and CEOs from the partnering telecom companies, attended the event, marking a milestone in the government’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of the Balochistan community, particularly along the strategic Makran Coastal Highway.
