NDMA warns of high water levels in Chenab River due to heavy rainfall

National Disaster Management Authority has issued warning that Chenab River is likely to reach high to very high level flows due to isolated heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the river till Sunday.

The NDMA further said it may result in inundation in low lying areas and damage of infrastructure.

It said that all villages and towns near Marala, Khanki, Qadirabad and areas along the flood plain may be affected by increasing flows.

Residents of these areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow guidance from local authorities.

In this regard, NDMA issued instructions to all relevant departments to take necessary precautions to mitigate the possible effects of flooding and extreme weather.
