KARACHI: Nestlé Pakistan was honored with the top Climate Champion Award at the inaugural OICCI Climate Excellence Awards, spotlighting its initiatives in climate action, sustainability, renewable energy, and regenerative agriculture. The awards were part of the 3rd Pakistan Climate Conference 2025, a two-day event focused on addressing climate challenges.
According to a statement by Nestlé Pakistan Limited, the award underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability, as it invests in renewable power and sustainability initiatives. This includes a notable investment of PKR 2 billion in renewable energy, such as solar power plants and a biomass boiler, to align with its 2050 Net Zero goals and Pakistan’s climate pledge.
Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief guest at the conference, highlighted the significance of climate change mitigation and urged more organizations to collaborate with the government. He acknowledged Nestlé’s efforts, particularly in supporting efficient irrigation technologies like drip irrigation within regenerative agriculture.
Jason Avanceña, CEO of Nestlé Pakistan, reiterated the company’s dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2025, 50% by 2030, and achieve Net Zero by 2050, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
OICCI Secretary-General M. Abdul Aleem emphasized the critical role of businesses in driving sustainable solutions, recognizing industry leaders who set benchmarks for environmental responsibility. The awards celebrated organizations that are making significant contributions to the fight against climate change.
