OGDCL Increases Output at Chakwal’s Rajian Well with ESP Installation

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has reported a marked increase in production at its Rajian well-05 located in the Chakwal district, following the installation of an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP). This strategic move has resulted in a substantial rise in both oil and gas output from the well.

The company announced that the production from Rajian-05 has now reached 3,100 barrels of oil per day (BPD) and 1.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. This is a significant increase from its previous output of 820 BPD of oil and 0.5 MMSCFD of gas before the ESP installation.

Situated in the Chakwal district of Punjab, the Rajian Field is fully owned and operated by OGDCL under the Gujar Khan Exploration License. This field, discovered in August 1994, continues to play a vital role in the company’s production strategy. The successful implementation of ESP at Rajian well-05 follows similar completions at two other wells in the field, reinforcing OGDCL’s method of enhancing existing fields through focused redevelopment.

This development underscores OGDCL’s commitment to optimizing domestic energy resources to bolster long-term sustainability and national energy security. The company is integrating Artificial Lift Systems (ALS) not only in shut-in or low-producing wells but also in naturally flowing wells, based on technical and economic evaluations.

By aligning with international best practices, OGDCL aims to enhance recovery and improve production efficiency across its asset portfolio. The company’s focus on leveraging advanced technologies and strategic field management is intended to strengthen Pakistan’s energy landscape.
