Owaisi Criticizes Uttar Pradesh Government Over Lynching, Urges Justice

New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi condemned the Uttar Pradesh government following the lynching of Mohammad Shahideen Qureshi in Moradabad over allegations of cow slaughter. Owaisi called for justice, criticizing the police for not taking action against the attackers while arresting the victim’s friend.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Owaisi stated, “Killing a person is still a crime in India, even if the person is Muslim, and Uttar Pradesh is still a part of India.” He accused the police of acting as “cow protectors” and urged them to enforce the law impartially.

The incident took place on December 31 when Qureshi was assaulted by a mob. A video of the event, which circulated widely, showed him severely injured. Despite the severity of the attack, the police have yet to detain the perpetrators, focusing instead on arresting Qureshi’s friend for alleged cow slaughter. Owaisi emphasized the need for prompt legal action to address mob violence.
