PACRA Reaffirms Rating for First Capital Investments Amid Modest Gains

Lahore: The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited (PACRA) has maintained the asset manager rating of First Capital Investments Limited at AM4++ with a stable outlook. This decision underscores the company’s modest market presence and a limited fund portfolio, which comprises a single investment fund.

The rating, which remains unchanged from the previous year, reflects the company’s adequate organizational framework and the stability of its core management team. First Capital’s assets under management (AUMs) have reached PKR 201 million as of the end of the first half of fiscal year 2025, a notable increase from PKR 144 million at the close of fiscal year 2024, largely driven by a 63% rise in net asset value since December 2023.

Despite these gains, the company’s market share remains relatively small at approximately 0.01%, with a high concentration of its investor base. As of December 2024, the top 10 investors accounted for roughly 92.3% of the total AUMs, and related parties comprised about 87.5% of the total investors, mitigating redemption pressures.

First Capital Investments reported a net profit of PKR 38 million during the first half of fiscal year 2025, up from PKR 32 million in fiscal year 2024. The increase in profitability is primarily attributed to revaluation gains on investments, supported by improved stock market performance. Consequently, the company’s equity rose to approximately PKR 272 million by the end of the first half of fiscal year 2025.

Looking ahead, First Capital Investments plans to diversify its revenue streams by entering the real estate investment trust (REIT) management sector. This strategic move is expected to enhance the company’s market standing and financial stability.

PACRA’s rating continues to depend on First Capital’s ability to maintain sustainable cash flows and profitability, which are crucial for stable equity. Achieving optimal resource utilization, leveraging group synergies, and improving market share and fund performance will be critical for the company’s future success.
