Pakistan and Austria Discuss Inter-Parliamentary Collaboration

Vienna: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani met with Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler, President of the Federal Council of Austria, to discuss expanding inter-parliamentary collaboration and explore mutual interests between Pakistan and Austria.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting took place in Vienna, where Gilani expressed appreciation for Austria’s support in setting up Pakistan’s Parliamentary Budget Office. He emphasized the need for ongoing technical assistance and the exchange of knowledge.

Both leaders noted the steady progress in bilateral relations and explored ways to enhance collaboration through the Pakistan-Austria Parliamentary Friendship Group. Discussions also focused on Austria’s contributions to higher education in Pakistan, with possibilities for expanding academic and research partnerships.

Gilani reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable development and advocated for collaborative efforts to address global challenges, including climate change, renewable energy, and technical education. The Special Investment Facilitation Council’s role in promoting investment and economic collaboration was also discussed.

Furthermore, Gilani extended an invitation to Eder-Gitschthaler to visit Pakistan, aiming to strengthen ties between the two nations.
