Pakistan and Belarus Explore Enhanced Trade and Industrial Cooperation

Islamabad: Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural potential in a meeting with a Belarusian delegation led by Minister for Industries Aliaksandr Yafimua. The discussion focused on expanding bilateral relations, particularly in industrial and agricultural sectors, and exploring ways to increase industrial cooperation between the two countries.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting highlighted Pakistan’s export potential to Belarus, identifying products such as inflatable footballs, bedding items, sports and outdoor equipment, and metal goods as key export opportunities. Minister Yafimua noted Belarus’s annual import market of $17.2 billion and expressed a commitment to providing space for Pakistani products in Belarus.

The dialogue also covered possible cooperation in agricultural machinery and tractor manufacturing, with Belarus showing interest in joint ventures for technology transfer. An invitation was extended to Belarus to initiate a pilot project aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in Pakistan. Additionally, Pakistan’s M/s Millat Group is seeking a joint venture for manufacturing agricultural equipment.

The meeting further addressed prospects for Belarusian investment in Pakistan’s electric vehicle sector. Currently, 31 companies have been licensed to produce two- and three-wheeler electric vehicles in Pakistan, with production figures on the rise. The National Electric Vehicle Policy 2019 aims for significant emission reductions and increased adoption of electric vehicles by 2030.

Both delegations also discussed enhancing cooperation in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector, with potential collaboration between Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and the Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs under consideration. The meeting concluded with a shared determination to explore and capitalize on untapped trade and industrial collaboration opportunities between Pakistan and Belarus.
