Islamabad: Senator Irfan-Ul-Haque Siddiqui, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, met with Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in education and cultural exchanges. The leaders committed to fostering closer ties through liberalized visa policies and increased cooperation in various sectors.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the discussions held on Friday at the Senate office in Islamabad centered around facilitating easier travel for students and tourists between the two nations. Siddiqui highlighted Pakistan’s recent liberalization of visa regimes for Kazakh nationals and expressed hope for reciprocal measures from Kazakhstan.
The dialogue also covered significant educational partnerships, with the ambassador detailing existing Memoranda of Understanding with top Pakistani universities. These agreements focus on joint research initiatives in information technology and agriculture, aiming to boost both academic and practical collaborations.
Additionally, the meeting addressed potential cultural exchanges and investment opportunities in mining and technology, facilitated by Special Investment Facilitation Councils. Both leaders looked forward to further discussions during the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting, anticipating a visit from the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
