Pakistan and Korea Explore New Frontiers in Agricultural Collaboration

Islamabad: The Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, engaged in talks with a Korean delegation to explore enhanced cooperation in agriculture. The discussions focused on leveraging Korean technology to boost Pakistan’s agricultural productivity and sustainability.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, both parties emphasized their mutual commitment to deepening ties, particularly in areas such as agricultural technology, livestock breeding, and sustainable farming. They reviewed ongoing projects under the Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA), which include initiatives like aeroponic seed production and improved fodder technology.

The meeting also introduced new initiatives, such as a livestock breeding program aimed at increasing milk and meat production in Pakistan. Minister Hussain underscored the importance of learning from Korea’s advanced agricultural technology to enhance local farming practices. He noted that agriculture is a significant contributor to Pakistan’s GDP and has been highlighted as a priority area by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Furthermore, the Korean delegation invited Pakistan to participate in the AFACI General Assembly meeting in May 2025, which promises to be a platform for further collaboration and exchange of agricultural knowledge. Minister Hussain reiterated the ministry’s commitment to working with international partners to achieve long-term growth and food security for Pakistan.
