Pakistan and Serbia Commit to Boosting Trade and Economic Cooperation

Islamabad: Serbia’s State Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Damjan Jovic, visited Pakistan for a high-level meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral trade ties between the two countries. The Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, expressed gratitude for the visit and underscored its importance in fostering economic cooperation.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, the minister appreciated Serbia’s initiatives in promoting collaboration and emphasized the untapped potential in trade and investment between Pakistan and Serbia. Mr. Jovic acknowledged Pakistan’s hospitality and extended an invitation for Pakistan to participate in Expo 2027, the first specialized expo in the Balkans, focusing on sports and music.

The Commerce Minister invited Serbian business representatives to Pakistan’s FoodAg Expo in Lahore next year, highlighting Pakistan’s innovative approach to sector-specific matchmaking and B2B events. He further detailed Pakistan’s strengths, noting its status as the fourth-largest milk producer and its potential for meat exports.

Discussions also included opportunities in skilled labor, particularly in nursing and IT, supported by Pakistan’s young workforce. The Minister praised Serbia’s achievements in sports, expressing interest in exploring sports collaborations.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthen economic ties and explore new areas of cooperation, aiming for a shared vision of prosperity and partnership.
