Pakistan and UNESCO to Collaborate on Water Resource Management

Islamabad: Minister for Water Resources, Muhammad Mueen Watto, held a meeting with UNESCO Representative in Pakistan, Fuad Pashayev, to discuss areas of collaboration in flood management, water governance, and sustainable water resource management. Both sides agreed to continue working in close coordination to address water-related challenges and improve resilience against floods and the impacts of climate change.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting, it was highlighted that the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources will work closely with UNESCO to promote the integration of scientific tools and research findings to enhance water security in the country. The discussion also focused on the preservation of the traditional Karez system and deliberated on the creation of artificial lakes to recycle and reuse rainwater for agricultural purposes.
