Islamabad: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to enhance bilateral parliamentary cooperation and people-to-people contacts. This development was announced following a meeting between Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismailov in Islamabad today.
According to Radio Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy as a vital tool for peace, stability, and development in the region. He noted the upcoming visits of parliamentary delegations from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Iran to Pakistan next month as part of broader diplomatic engagements.
Sadiq also underscored the significance of Gwadar and Karachi ports, highlighting them as crucial gateways that connect Uzbekistan to international trade routes, thereby facilitating economic and trade ties between the two nations.
Nuriddin Ismailov praised Pakistan’s diplomatic handling of the recent conflict with India, describing it as commendable. He further stated that the relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan is founded on principles of brotherhood, trust, and mutual interest, reinforcing the commitment to shared goals and collaboration.
