Pakistan Bans Pashtun Tahafuz Movement for Anti-State Activities

Islamabad: The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) has been officially declared a proscribed entity by the Pakistani government due to its involvement in anti-state activities, announced Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. The decision follows evidence of the group’s actions against national interests, including desecration of the national flag, attacks on Pakistani foreign missions, and links to terrorist organizations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a media briefing, Minister Tarar detailed the activities leading to the ban, including PTM’s alleged coordination with terrorist groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The cabinet’s decision to ban PTM was based on a thorough assessment of all evidence, underscoring the government’s stance against any group or party promoting an anti-Pakistan agenda.

Tarar clarified that while there is no restriction on peaceful protests and constructive criticism, acts such as burning the national flag, assaulting Pakistani embassies abroad, and engaging in terror financing are intolerable. He called on individuals associated with PTM to renounce their disruptive activities and reintegrate into the national mainstream to contribute positively to Pakistan’s development and progress.
