Pakistan Calls for Cooperation to Preserve Outer Space

Islamabad: Pakistan has called for strengthening multilateral cooperation through the United Nations to preserve outer space as a global commons. Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Usman Jadoon, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts during his address at the Joint Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation issues.

According to Radio Pakistan, Jadoon stressed that no single state can ensure space security unilaterally. He highlighted the risks posed by the proliferation of exclusive, coalition-based initiatives, which threaten to fragment the global governance framework.

The Pakistani envoy advocated for inclusivity, transparency, and universal participation in all space security processes. He underscored that outer space serves as a strategic enabler, and the increasing integration of space-based assets into national security frameworks shows that space security is intrinsically linked with global strategic stability.
