Pakistan Charts AI-Driven Path for National Development

Islamabad: The Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives convened a meeting of the National AI Taskforce to unveil an AI Implementation Roadmap aimed at transforming various sectors and boosting national growth. The roadmap, developed with the National Center of Artificial Intelligence, seeks to enhance productivity, drive innovation, and strengthen Pakistan’s global competitiveness.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the strategic importance of artificial intelligence in economic development. He highlighted the National Center of Artificial Intelligence’s role in building a robust AI ecosystem, promoting integration across sectors like healthcare, education, and defense.

The roadmap includes initiatives for AI education, research, and infrastructure development, such as the establishment of Technology Parks. A National AI Office, led by the NCAI, will ensure AI governance and alignment with international practices, while regional AI Liaison Offices will address local needs.

Immediate plans involve organizing sector-specific workshops to facilitate AI adoption. These efforts aim to create a skilled workforce and deploy AI solutions across key industries, aligning with the Uraan Pakistan initiative’s goals for sustainable and equitable development.
