Pakistan Desires Permanent End to US-Iran Conflict for Regional Peace: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan desires a permanent end to the US-Iran conflict for peace in the region. Addressing the sixth International Paigham-e-Islam Conference in Islamabad, he strongly highlighted Pakistan’s mediation efforts saying these led to the opening of doors of negotiations between the two sides.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the dialogue will soon turn into sustainable peace in the region without the loss of more human lives. Terming Pakistan’s role as historic, he stated that history will always remember these efforts in golden words. He commended the efforts of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for facilitating ceasefire and talks between the parties involved.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his role in the peace talks and acknowledged the contributions of China, Turkiye, and other fraternal countries in this process. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan has pursued a balanced and principled stance in the current regional context.

Highlighting the strengthened bilateral relations, he noted that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have opened a new chapter, emphasizing that the protection, defense, and security of Harmain Sharifain is more dear to Pakistan than their lives. The Prime Minister remarked that the defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia reaffirms this firm resolve.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast position on the issues of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, affirming that Pakistan will continue to support the Palestinian and Kashmiri people until they achieve the right to self-determination. The Prime Minister called upon religious scholars to promote unity and harmony within the Ummah, in accordance with the teachings of the holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). He stressed that those who foment division and perpetrate terrorism cannot be considered true Muslims.

Addressing the second session of the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar underscored Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability. He highlighted sustained diplomatic engagement for de-escalation and dialogue in the region and beyond.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, stressing the importance of Muslim unity, the central role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and collective action for the welfare of the Ummah. He also highlighted Pakistan’s leadership in combating Islamophobia globally and promoting interfaith harmony.

The Deputy Prime Minister paid tribute to Pakistan’s resilience and national resolve, reflecting on the anniversary of “Marka-e-Haq.” He emphasized that, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, peace, progress, and prosperity remain central to Pakistan’s national vision. He welcomed and lauded the participation of distinguished international and national Ulema and scholars, noting the significance and timeliness of the conference.
