Karachi: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan, following the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has continued its humanitarian relief efforts for the war-affected populations in Gaza and Lebanon. On Thursday, the second consignment of aid was dispatched from Karachi to Lebanon, aimed at alleviating the hardships of those affected by the ongoing conflict.

According to National Disaster Management Authority, the aid shipment, organized in collaboration with Al-Khidmat Foundation, consists of approximately 100 tons of essential supplies. These include medicines, ready-to-eat meat, tents, tarpaulins, warm bedding, winter clothing, and powdered milk. The consignment was flown from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi to Beirut.

A send-off ceremony held at the airport saw participation from representatives of NDMA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Khidmat Foundation, and local officials. The speakers at the event highlighted the urgency of providing continued assistance to the conflict-stricken populations in Palestine and Lebanon. They reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to standing by the people of these regions in their time of need and underscored the significance of collaborative efforts between welfare organizations and the public in sustaining these humanitarian efforts.

This marks Pakistan’s 12th aid shipment to the conflict zones, with 10 previous consignments sent to Palestine and two to Lebanon. The relief supplies are sent based on the needs of the war-affected populations. In a meeting at NDMA headquarters on October 11, 2024, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal announced the creation of a special “Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gaza and Lebanon” to collect public donations in support of those suffering due to the ongoing war.
