Male: The Pakistan High Commission in the Maldives commemorated Kashmir Solidarity Day on Wednesday, holding a convention at its premises in Hulhumale to express support for the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of self-determination in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The event was attended by members of the Pakistani community and Maldivians, featuring recitations from the Quran and national anthems of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the High Commissioner of Pakistan, Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Ladhi, emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris. He highlighted the long-standing nature of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and its recognition as an unresolved issue by the United Nations.
The event included a video presentation on human rights violations in the region, and messages from Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister were read out. The High Commissioner reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiris in line with UN resolutions and stressed the international community’s responsibility toward the issue.
Deputy Head of Mission Zulqurnain Ahmad welcomed attendees, appreciating their solidarity. The convention concluded with prayers for the martyrs and the region’s freedom, underscoring Kashmir’s significance in Pakistan’s foreign policy.
