Pakistan Manages to Secure Consensus in UNGA Committee on Islamophobia Resolution

New York: Pakistan has managed to secure consensus in the Fifth Committee of the UN General Assembly on adopting a financing resolution concerning the revised estimates on Islamophobia.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan’s First Secretary at the Pakistan Mission, Jibran Khan Durrani, delivered the national statement at the closing meeting of the first part of the 79th UNGA session. He expressed gratitude to the OIC member states, G77 and China, as well as other partners for their support in achieving a consensual outcome on the resolution.

Pakistan played a leading role as a key negotiator in the Fifth Committee discussions. As per the resolution, the Office of the Special Envoy on Combating Islamophobia will be established effective from the 1st of next month.
