Pakistan Marks 3rd Anniversary of Kashmiri Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s Death

Islamabad: Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, commemorated the third death anniversary of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, a prominent Kashmiri leader, recognizing his lifelong struggle and advocacy for the rights of the people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). In a solemn tribute, President Zardari celebrated Geelani’s enduring commitment to Kashmiri self-determination and his resilience against oppressive forces.

According to Press Information Department, President Zardari in his message highlighted Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s role as a symbol of resistance and hope for countless Kashmiris over several decades. Despite facing numerous personal challenges, including house arrests and incarcerations by Indian Occupation Forces, Geelani’s determination remained unshaken, Zardari noted. He emphasized that Geelani’s efforts were instrumental in keeping the Kashmiri people focused on their quest for self-determination, a right supported by various United Nations Security Council resolutions.

President Zardari assured the Kashmiri population of Pakistan’s ongoing support, both moral and political, in their pursuit of justice and self-determination. He called upon the international community and the people of Pakistan to draw inspiration from Geelani’s exemplary courage and dedication to the cause of freedom and justice.

The President’s message serves as a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir issue, underscoring the significance of Geelani’s legacy in the continuing struggle of the Kashmiri people. He concluded his tribute by praying for divine blessings for the departed soul of Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
