Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a reminder to all political parties that they must submit their consolidated financial statements for the fiscal year 2023-2024 by August 29, 2024. This requirement is in accordance with the Elections Act of 2017, which mandates transparency in the financial operations of political entities.
According to Press Information Department, political parties are required to provide a detailed account of their annual income, expenses, sources of funds, assets, and liabilities using Form-D, which must be audited by a Chartered Accountant. These statements should also include a certificate attesting that no funds were received from prohibited sources, alongside a comprehensive auditor’s report.
The ECP has made Form-D and the proforma for the source of funds available at its secretariat in Islamabad and at the offices of Provincial Election Commissioners across Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. The forms can also be accessed on the ECP’s website. The submissions must be made through an office bearer authorized by the party head and must be delivered in person to ensure compliance with the regulations.
This move is part of the ECP’s ongoing efforts to ensure financial transparency among political parties, thereby reinforcing the integrity of the electoral process in Pakistan.
