Pakistan Prioritizes SCO Framework Under Upcoming Chairmanship

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Committee in Islamabad today to follow up on Pakistan’s preparations for assuming the Chairmanship of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for 2026-27. He reviewed the ongoing preparatory work and directed all concerned ministries and departments to undertake comprehensive planning and coordination to ensure the successful hosting of the SCO Summit in 2027.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan, as an important regional player, attaches high priority to the SCO framework and its upcoming chairmanship, which would reflect Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, connectivity, and multilateral engagement. He further stressed the importance of timely execution, effective inter-agency coordination, and high standards of logistical and substantive preparations.
