Islamabad: Pakistan Railways is set to fully digitize its revenue collection system, marking a major step toward modernization and transparency. An agreement to this effect was signed between Pakistan Railways and the National Police Foundation in Islamabad today.
According to Radio Pakistan, under the agreement, Pakistan Railways’ system will be made more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly. Passengers will now be able to conveniently purchase tickets through ATMs, mobile apps, internet banking, bank branches, NADRA e-Sahulat centers, debit cards, and QR codes. This new system will enable the State Bank of Pakistan and 1LINK to transfer funds directly to the national treasury three times a day.
1LINK, a consortium of forty banks, will streamline the payment process across the network. Speaking on the occasion, the Railways Minister termed this initiative as a milestone in the history of Pakistan Railways and a true example of the Prime Minister’s vision for a cashless economy. He said the cashless system will make the payment process more transparent, efficient, and faster.
Hanif Abbasi noted that modern facilities are being introduced for the public through collaboration with the National Police Foundation, State Bank of Pakistan, 1LINK, and FinNet.
