Pakistan Seeks Continued Global Support for Syria’s Stability

Islamabad: At the United Nations Pakistan has called for mobilization of all efforts to strengthen the humanitarian situation in Syria.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, emphasized the persistent threat of terrorism as a grave concern during a Security Council briefing. He highlighted the importance of international community support as Syria transitions into a new phase, focusing on stability, reform, and inclusive state-building.

The Pakistani envoy expressed concern over Israeli incursions and the establishment of so-called permanent positions in southern Syrian territory, citing violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. He condemned these actions as highly destabilizing. Ahmed stressed that any future security arrangements must be grounded in the United Nations framework and require the consent of all concerned parties.
