Pakistan Seeks Deeper Economic Ties with US Through EXIM Bank Collaboration

Islamabad: In a strategic meeting in Washington, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the President of the US Export-Import Bank, Ms. Reta Jo Lewis, discussed enhancing the cooperation between the financial institutions of the two nations, focusing on critical economic sectors.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Aurangzeb expressed a strong desire for closer ties between the EXIM Banks of Pakistan and the United States. He highlighted the potential benefits of such a partnership in Pakistan’s energy, minerals, and IT sectors, ensuring the US bank of comprehensive data support to evaluate its market entry strategies. Furthermore, the Finance Minister requested detailed explanations on the US nexus requirements that govern the financing and insurance of goods and services by the EXIM Bank, underscoring the importance of clear guidelines to facilitate smoother bilateral cooperation.

The discussions are a part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic relations between Pakistan and the United States, aiming to boost investment and support Pakistan’s development in key technological and industrial areas.
