Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority team raids Sunday bazar along with media team

Karachi, February 02, 2014 (PPI-OT): PSQCA Team under the supervision of Media Advisor of PSQCA Mr. Abdul Waheed Memon and Syed Anwar Iqbal, Deputy Director (CC-Karachi) raided at Sunday Bachat Bazaar, Block 8, DHA, Khiyaban-e-Ittehad, Karachi, along with Electronic, Print Media and NGO’s representative of M/s. Helpline Trust, Karachi, to make better implementation of quality standards and to protect the health and safety of the consumers of Pakistan, also to improve the services of PSQCA and make it to more effective. As per directives of Federal Minister for Science and Technology and Director General, PSQCA that those products that are on the PSQCA compulsory items list, must not be allowed in the market, unless their products have been registered and approved by PSQCA and hold a valid license, or without having the PS mark on the products and also directed to take strict action against the illegal/sub-standard manufacturer/shopkeepers. On arrival at Sunday Bachat Bazar, Team members started checking different brands of various mandatory food items.

The Team members collected the open market samples of different brands of Cooking Oil, Banaspati, Canola Oil, Beverages, Bottled Drinking Water and Black Tea. These samples are collected for monitoring of quality assurance of the PSQCA licencees. The food items samples of Beverages, Bottled Drinking Water and Black Tea are under testing and results are awaited. If the samples found non-conforming as per relevant Pakistan Standard Specifications the action will be taken as per PSQCA Act-VI of 1996.
