Pakistan Takes Steps to Improve Special Economic and Technology Zones

Pakistan: Pakistan has taken significant steps to improve Special Economic and Technology Zones over the last three years. This has been done with the support of Special Investment Facilitation Council. A new action plan has been developed for the improvement of Special Economic Zones based on survey data and modern planning.

According to Radio Pakistan, Special Economic Zones have been shifted from a traditional real estate model to an industry-based model focused on production, exports, and investment. Special attention has been given to the development of Rashakai, Dhabeji, Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, Allama Iqbal Industrial City, and Karachi Industrial Park.

Conducive environments have been created in Special Technology Zones to promote innovation and the digital economy. Across the country, thirty-two Special Technology Zones have been established, where more than two hundred companies and over twenty-seven thousand professionals are actively engaged.
