Pakistan to Host SCO Summit 2024, UBG Highlights Economic and Diplomatic Opportunities

Karachi: The United Business Group (UBG) is gearing up for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2024 in Pakistan, anticipating a significant convergence of regional leaders. The summit, set to include heads of state and high-level delegations from the SCO’s eight member and observer states, aims to bolster economic cooperation, cultural ties, and regional security.

According to United Business Group, the event will address a variety of critical areas such as economic cooperation, regional security, climate change, energy security, and counter-terrorism. Leaders at UBG, including President Zubair Tufail, Khalid Tawab, Hanif Gohar, and Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, underscored the importance of the summit in enhancing diplomatic relations and economic ties across the Eurasian nations.

The leaders emphasized the critical role of establishing banking channels to facilitate smoother trade and investment flows among member countries. “Establishing banking channels will streamline transactions, reduce costs, and increase economic cooperation, benefiting businesses and communities alike,” they stated. The summit not only aims to strengthen existing relationships but also to explore new avenues for cooperation on connectivity projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Hosting the SCO Summit underlines Pakistan’s pivotal role and strategic positioning in regional diplomacy, serving as a bridge between South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. The UBG leaders praised the Government of Pakistan for its efforts in ensuring the event’s success, reflecting the country’s commitment to the SCO’s goals and principles and its proactive approach to regional peace and stability.
