Pakistan warns against inaction in combating growing acts of desecrating Holy Quran

The UN Human Rights Council has adopted a Pakistani draft resolution calling for holding accountable the perpetrators of desecrating the holy texts.

The resolution was passed with 28 votes in favour and 12 votes against while seven countries abstained.

Meanwhile, at the United Nations, Pakistan has warned against inaction in combating growing acts of desecrating the Holy Quran.

Speaking at UN Human Rights Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN offices in Geneva, Khalil Hashmi said such public actions are not an expression of free speech. They are an affront to our common humanity and human dignity.
