Pakistani Commerce Minister Engages with U.S. Business Leaders on Economic Challenges

Islamabad: The Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, Jam Kamal Khan, engaged with a delegation from the American Business Council (ABC) at the Ministry of Commerce, addressing critical economic issues faced by U.S. businesses operating in Pakistan. The meeting, held in Islamabad, included representatives from nine prominent American companies with operations in the country, such as DuPont, Cargill, PepsiCo, CocaCola, and others, along with officials from the U.S. Embassy. Key topics on the agenda included high taxes, inflation, and the need for enhanced government support to create a favorable business environment.

According to Press Information Department, the ABC delegation highlighted the pivotal role American businesses play in the Pakistani economy, particularly through job creation and investment. Khan assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to tackling these challenges, recognizing the impact of inflation and other economic difficulties. He expressed confidence in the government’s efforts to develop solutions aimed at improving the business climate for both local and international investors. The dialogue concluded with an agreement to maintain ongoing collaboration, aiming to strengthen trade relations in the future.
