Islamabad, February 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistani Entrepreneurs could benefit from Kyrgyzstan’s liberal business laws and pitched Kyrgyzstan as way to access Russian and European markets.
These remarks were made by Mr.Kuban Tokturbaez, Charge D’Affairs, Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Pakistan during a meeting with Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
He said that Pakistan has also favourable environment for investment and Kyrgyzstan is keen to enhance trade relations with Pakistan as both the countries have great potential to extend bilateral trade. He also informed the meeting about Free Economic Zone in Bishkek and said that there are special customs, tax and currency regulations at the territory of the free economic zone to attract foreign investors.
Mr. Kuban said that attractive foreign ventures and foreign direct investment is a priority for the Kyrgyz government. He further said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are two brother Islamic countries and it is need of the hour to promote trade activities between the two states. He said that there is huge scope of exporting bed linen from Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoy friendly and cordial relations and are tied together under the umbrella of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), but the business and economic relations between the two countries do not correspond to their respective potentials.
Mr.Bakhtawari said that Pakistan desired to see bilateral cooperation with Kyrgyzstan flourishing in all spheres by improving business relations and exchange of parliamentary delegations on regular basis.
He said connectivity remained an important element in enhancing trade and people-to-people interaction and stressed for the establishment of direct air links between Islamabad to Kashgar and then Kashgar to Bishkek which would also make Kashgar as Central for regional trade.
ICCI President identified textiles, oil and gas exploration, hydropower generation, light engineering and financial sectors as potential areas for mutual cooperation between the two countries. He said that joints efforts were needed to improve trade relations between the tow countries to exploit the existing potential for mutual benefits.
