Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government is committed to providing necessary facilities to Pakistani athletes, as part of an initiative to support sports development in the country.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister made these remarks while speaking with snooker champion Muhammad Asif in Islamabad. He highlighted the achievements of young athletes who are showcasing their talents on international platforms, thus bringing honor to Pakistan.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated Muhammad Asif on his victory at the SAARC Snooker Championship in Sri Lanka and presented him with a prize of 2.5 million rupees. Asif has previously won the World Amateur Snooker Championship and the SAARC Snooker Championship three times each, solidifying his reputation on the global stage.
The Prime Minister instructed relevant authorities to collaborate with Asif to train more snooker players in Pakistan. This initiative aims to promote the sport among the country’s youth and develop a new generation of skilled athletes.
Expressing his appreciation for the Prime Minister’s acknowledgment, Muhammad Asif stated that government support is crucial in advancing sports in Pakistan.
