Pakistani Rupee Continues Slide Against Major Currencies

Islamabad: The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) maintained its downward trajectory against major international currencies, according to the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP) closing rates on September 22, 2025. The US dollar continued its ascent, closing at PKR 282.50 for selling, raising concerns about the nation’s economic stability.

The Euro also saw gains against the PKR, closing at a selling price of PKR 334.35. The British Pound followed a similar pattern, ending the day at PKR 384.90.

While the Japanese Yen remained relatively stable against the Rupee, with a selling rate of PKR 1.93, other regional currencies, such as the UAE Dirham and the Saudi Riyal, experienced a slight uptick, closing at PKR 77.80 and PKR 75.80 respectively. These latest figures from the State Bank of Pakistan paint a concerning picture of the PKR’s performance in the foreign exchange market.
