Pakistani Scholar Appointed to Prominent Academic Chair at University of Tehran

Islamabad: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has announced the appointment of Mr. Zahid Munir Khan Amir as the new Chair in Urdu and Pakistan Studies at the University of Tehran. This position, vacant since 2008, aims to elevate Pakistan’s academic recognition globally by focusing on the nation’s language, history, and culture.

According to Press Information Department, the appointment follows the signing of a Letter of Cooperation between the Government of Pakistan and the University of Tehran on July 17, 2023. Mr. Amir, who is currently the Director of Urdu Development and Translation Centre at Punjab University Oriental College, will engage in research and teaching at the Iranian university. His role also includes fostering connections between the University and the Pakistani community, contributing to stronger bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran.
