Pakistan’s First Multi-Mission Satellite, PAKSAT MM1, Now Operational

Islamabad: Pakistan’s inaugural multi-mission satellite, PAKSAT MM1, has successfully become operational, marking a significant advancement in the nation’s space and digital technology sectors.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the satellite was launched under the auspices of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and represents a crucial milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward enhanced digital infrastructure. The PAKSAT MM1 is set to revolutionize communication across the country by supporting the growth of various IT sectors.

The satellite is expected to bolster television broadcasting, community internet, and tele-education services, significantly aiding in the promotion of local industries. Additionally, it will expand internet connectivity to remote areas, aligning with the government’s vision for a Digital Pakistan.

Furthermore, the launch of PAKSAT MM1 has coincided with Pakistan’s improved positioning on the United Nations E-Governance Development Index, where the country has climbed 14 points to rank 136, up from 150 in 2022.
