Parliamentary Coordination Committee on Polio Meets

Islamabad: The Parliamentary Coordination Committee on Polio met under the Chairpersonship of Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, in the Parliament House, this afternoon to examine the performance of National Emergency Action Plan for Eradication of Polio.

The Committee was briefed by the National Program Manager for eradication of Polio. He informed the Committee about the cases of Polio in the Provinces as well as Districts from 2008 to 2011. He told that 154 cases of Polio were reported throughout the country including 5 cases of Islamabad.

He further informed that Sindh and Balochistan Provinces were the more affected areas of Polio cases in the country. The Parliamentarian showed their grave concern over the Polio cases in Islamabad.

The Chairperson of the Committee asked the Parliamentarian to take part in the campaign of Polio in their districts. She also asked them to cooperate and coordinate their district administration officers in this regards. The Parliamentarians assured their full cooperation to make the country Polio free.
