Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Spain in areas of mutual interest. He was talking to Ambassador of Spain to Pakistan, Carlos Aragon, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted Pakistan’s vast agricultural potential, noting that the country is emerging as a producer of high-quality olives. He extended an invitation for Spanish collaboration in olive cultivation, agribusiness, value addition, and agricultural technology, focusing particularly on regions such as Balochistan, the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Potohar region.
The Minister also congratulated Spain on winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, commending the country’s achievements in football. He proposed cooperation in sports development, suggesting initiatives like technical assistance, coaching exchanges, and training programs to enhance football talent in Pakistan.
Ambassador Carlos Aragon appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in promoting dialogue and reducing regional tensions, saying that such initiatives contribute positively to international peace and stability.
