PM Orders Establishment of Advanced Cargo Scanning System

Karachi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has initiated plans to establish a state-of-the-art cargo scanning system in Karachi and other key trading hubs across Pakistan. The directive was issued during a review meeting focused on the transit cargo and tracking system held in Islamabad.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need to implement a system equipped with modern technology, while phasing out outdated methods of tracking, tracing, and scanning. He also stressed the importance of third-party validation for the quality of cargo tracking service providers.

The Prime Minister noted that improvements in the tracking system have already led to a significant reduction in smuggling activities. He highlighted that, as a result of these efforts, sugar exports to Afghanistan reached a value of $211 million this year.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed his vision for Pakistan to become a central hub for transit trade among regional countries, driven by an integrated communication system and enhanced cargo tracking capabilities.
