PM, PPP Delegation Reaffirm Unity in Country’s Defense

Islamabad: A delegation of Pakistan People’s Party led by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today (Monday). The delegation reaffirmed that all political parties of the country stand united and resolute alongside the brave security forces for the defense of the motherland.

According to Radio Pakistan, the delegation lauded the diplomatic efforts of the federal government for exposing India’s war intentions before the world. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan’s brave forces are always ready to thwart the enemy, and the entire nation stands with them against any Indian aggression. He emphasized that while Pakistan desires peace and stability in the region, it is fully capable of giving a befitting response for its defense.

The Prime Minister expressed regret over India’s provocative behavior since the Pahalgam incident. He highlighted that Pakistan not only expressed concern over the incident but also called for an impartial and independent investigation. He categorically rejected Indian efforts to link Pakistan to the incident without any evidence.

Shehbaz Sharif addressed India’s illegal suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and its use as water aggression, stating it as unacceptable. He mentioned that Pakistan is making vigorous diplomatic efforts to expose Indian aggression and will raise the issue vigorously at the UN Security Council to reveal India’s malicious intentions.

The meeting also addressed matters pertaining to the federal budget. The PPP delegation provided their suggestions for the federal budget 2025-26, marking the first round of consultations by the government with allies on the federal budget. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of consultations in all matters.

Additionally, the meeting discussed the handing over of electricity distribution companies to the provinces, with a decision to implement this within two months. The PPP delegation expressed confidence in the government’s reforms in the energy sector.

The delegation included Raja Pervez Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti, and Senator Saleem Mandviwala.
