NA Reaffirms Commitment to Protect Country’s Sovereignty

Islamabad: The National Assembly of Pakistan adopted a unanimous resolution today, emphasizing that the citizens of Pakistan are committed to peace but will never allow any infringement on the country’s sovereignty, security, and interests. The resolution was presented by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.

According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution condemned terrorism in all its forms, stating that the killing of innocent civilians contradicts the values upheld by Pakistan. It dismissed all baseless attempts to link Pakistan with the Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The resolution criticized the Indian Government’s campaign to malign Pakistan by exploiting terrorism issues for narrow political goals.

The resolution also denounced India’s unlawful declaration to hold the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance, labeling it a blatant violation of the treaty and equating it to an act of war. The National Assembly warned that Pakistan is fully capable and prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression, including war, terrorism, or military provocation, as demonstrated by its response to India’s actions in February 2019. It further warned that any misadventure by India would be met with a firm and decisive response.

The resolution demanded accountability for India’s involvement in various acts of terrorism and targeted activities on foreign soil, including Pakistan. It reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.

During the House discussion on linking Pakistan with the Pahalgam attack and India’s unilateral decision on the Indus Water Treaty, Opposition Leader Omar Ayub condemned the incident, asserting Pakistan’s non-involvement. He accused India of perpetrating terrorist activities inside Pakistan and urged the government to respond appropriately to any Indian misadventure.

Minister for Board of Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to peace, urging unity to counter India’s designs. Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination Mustafa Kamal reiterated national support for the armed forces against foreign aggression.
