PM Reaffirms Pakistan’s Strong Commitment to UN

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism, including the high significance it has always attached to the United Nations. He was talking to the candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, Mar­a Fernanda Espinosa, who called on him in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that the incoming leadership of the United Nations will continue to work towards promoting the three pillars of the United Nations. These include principles of the UN Charter, faithful implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions, and respect for international law and treaties.

Mar­a Fernanda Espinosa thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for receiving her and praised Pakistan for its leading role in recent regional peace efforts as well as its active participation in the United Nations over many decades.
