PM Sharif Stresses Parliament’s Role in National Progress, Urges Legislation for Public Good

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of Parliament as the nation’s supreme legislative body and called for legislation that advances the national and public interest. He made these remarks during a banquet he hosted for Parliamentarians.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, PM Sharif underscored the sanctity of Parliament, stating that national issues should be resolved through legislative processes rather than external influences. The banquet was attended by federal ministers and members of Parliament from multiple political parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Balochistan Awami Party, National Party, and Pakistan Muslim League Zia.

During his speech, the Prime Minister recounted the government’s efforts in averting a financial default and steering the country toward stability. He highlighted the dangers posed by anti-state elements who sought to destabilize the nation’s economy. PM Sharif praised the Charter of Democracy, initiated by Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, for blocking unconstitutional actions within the country.

Furthermore, PM Sharif remarked on the political and economic setbacks faced due to what he described as a well-orchestrated conspiracy against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He commended the collective political sacrifices made to rescue Pakistan from economic difficulties, noting the current government’s success in stabilizing the economy, reducing inflation, and enhancing business opportunities through policy adjustments.

He also acknowledged the increasing remittances from overseas Pakistanis as a sign of confidence in his administration. Concluding his address, PM Sharif called on all attendees to commit to tireless work for the nation’s progress, expressing confidence that their efforts towards Pakistan’s economic security would bear fruit.
