PM Vows to Completely Eradicate Polio from Country

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed the government’s resolve to completely eradicate polio from the country. He was speaking with a delegation from Rotary International Foundation, led by its President Francesco Arezzo, during their visit to Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister extended his gratitude to Rotary International for its cooperation, alongside other international organizations, in combatting polio in Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the challenges in eliminating polio but emphasized the government’s commitment to securing the future of the country’s children through dedication and hard work.

He noted that while there are difficulties in eradicating polio, it remains an achievable goal. The Prime Minister also praised the crucial role played by polio workers in the anti-polio campaigns.

The Rotary International delegation commended the government’s efforts in the anti-polio initiatives and expressed optimism that, with the Prime Minister’s special attention and leadership, the disease will be eradicated from Pakistan soon. They reaffirmed Rotary International’s commitment to supporting the government’s fight against polio.

The delegation informed the Prime Minister that Rotary International spent five hundred million dollars last year on polio eradication in Pakistan and plans to allocate a substantial amount again this year for the same cause. Furthermore, they appreciated the Prime Minister’s selection of the polio eradication team and the steps taken by the team.
