PML-N Secures Majority in AJK Elections: Info Minister

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the leading party in the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections, securing a simple majority.

According to Radio Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar, in a televised conversation, stated that the victory of PML-N in the elections is being contested by political opponents. He emphasized that the people actively participated in the electoral process, casting their votes for PML-N based on its track record in development, public service, and overall performance.

Tarar highlighted that political activity was vibrant during the election campaign and acknowledged that political rivalry and exchanges are inherent to the democratic process. He called for patience, tolerance, and mutual respect within the political landscape. Addressing remarks by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Tarar dismissed the allegations as baseless.

He further asserted that the results of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections should be respected. The minister reiterated that PML-N’s leadership consistently prioritizes the development and progress of Kashmir. Tarar also noted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s positive democratic gesture in congratulating the Pakistan Peoples’ Party on its victory in Gilgit-Baltistan.
